It was William’s brother Thomas, “a pillar of society”, who created a
secure foundation for the family business.
He was well liked by
customers and was always open to new markets, selling ‘every article for
drawing miniatures, landscapes, portraits, mapping, signals,
fortification etc’.
Thomas Reeves led the company’s expansionist
business traditions and widened the stock to include pens, pencils,
brushes, paint bladders, a variety of palettes and porcelain mixing
wells.
